George Nader is among the finest and most underrated actors of Hollywood. At a time when stars were shaving their chest hair, George Nader would show on screen with his intact. His beefcake personality, brooding eyes and sonorous voice made George Nader an instant hit with the ladies and lads alike. George Nader was always quiet about his homosexuality, though he never lied.

George Nader did a stint in the Army right after college where he studied theatre expressions. After coming back the war George Nader starred in a variety of plays in the Pasadena Playhouse. Ironically, at the start of his career ,he met his life partner Mark Miller as well. The couple stayed together through thick and thin till the very end. This occurred in a time when homosexuality was regarded with utmost scorn and an actor’s career was over even before it started if the fans found out about his sexuality.

Universal tried to set up George Nader with many other starlets, though he never heard of it. There was an elaborate scheme as well planned with one of the female secretaries to have a marriage only in name. George Nader could not bring himself to be part of this sham.

George Nader’s Hollywood career was slaughtered by a magazine called Confidential when they did an article on his relations with another actor Rock Hudson. Unfortunately George Nader was only a ‘B’ list performing artist as opposed to his great companion Rock Hudson, ‘A’ rundown performer. Universal in a bid to control damages and cut costs made a deal which placed all the blame on George Nader and technically ended his career in Hollywood.

Not one to be disheartened, George Nader went to Europe where he again made a name for himself and salvaged his acting career. After his car accident, he moved to Palm Springs where he spent the rest of his life. Nader with Miller remained fast friends with Rock Hudson till the end of his days. They even helped him during his last days battling AIDS.
